Eligibility for Gujarat Driving Licence
Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to apply online for Gujarat driving license:-
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Gujarat state.
- To obtain a learning license for light motor vehicle, a person must be 18 years of age or above.
- To obtain a learning license for a vehicle having engine capacity of more than 50CC, a person must be 16 years of age or above.
- To obtain a learning license for a commercial vehicle, the person must be 20 years of age or above.
- To obtain a learning license a person must be aware of the traffic rules.

How to get a driving license in Gujarat?
To apply for RTO Gujarat Driving Licence Online, candidates should carefully understand and follow the procedure given below:-
Step 1: Open the web portal parivahan.gov.in
To apply online for driving license in Gujarat, first of all you have to open the official website of Ministry of Road Transport Highways parivahan.gov.in . You can go directly to the official website by clicking on the direct link given here – Transport Service
Step 2: Select Drivers/ Learners License option
After opening the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport Highways, on the home page, you will find the option of Drivers / Learners License under the License Related Services section , you have to click on this option for Gujarat driving license.
Step 3: Select the state
As soon as you click on the Drivers / Learners Licence option, the official website of Sarathi Parivahan will open. Here you have to select your state . Select Gujarat.
Step 4: Select the Apply For Learner Licence option
As soon as you select your state, a new page will open. In this page you will see the option of Apply For Learner Licence , you have to select this option.
After selecting the option, on the next page you will be told the steps to get an online learning license. You have to read these steps and click on the Continue button given below.
Step 5: Select the category
After this you have to select the category. If you are making a new learning license, then you first have to select the option Applicant does not hold any Driving/Learner licence issued in India, after that you have to click on the Submit button.
Step 6: Select Authentication
After this you have to select authentication. Select any option from Submit via Aadhaar Authentication and Submit without Aadhaar Authentication . Here select Submit without Aadhaar Authentication and click on the Submit button.
Step 7: Enter mobile number
After this, on the next page, you have to enter your mobile number and click on the “ Generate OTP ” button. Now you will receive an OTP on your mobile number, you have to fill that OTP in the box and click on the “ Authenticate With Sarathi ” button.
Step 8: Fill the learning license application form
After this, the application form for getting an online learning license will open. Here first of all you have to select the RTO Office . After that you have to enter details like your name, father’s name, gender, date of birth, place of birth, qualification, blood group, mobile number etc.
Step 9: Select the vehicle
After entering personal information, you have to enter your address details. After that you have to select the vehicle, and click on the submit button.
Step 10: Upload documents
After this, in the next step of the form, you have to scan your documents and upload them in the form.
Step 11: Upload photo and signature
After uploading the documents, you have to upload your photo and signature.
Step 12: Pay the fees and take a printout of the application form
After this, in the next step of the application form, you have to pay the prescribed fee. After successful payment of fee, check the status of fee payment and book a slot for learning license and take a print out of the application form. Now you have to go to the Transport Regional Office within the stipulated time period. Take all the original documents and their photocopies with you. After this, your original documents will be checked by the officials. After the application form is verified, you will be provided the learning license after some time. Note: After the learning license is made, you can apply for a driving license. Remember, to get a driving license, first a learning license has to be made. The validity of a learning license is only 6 months. You have to apply for a driving license within 6 months.
Step 13: Select the Apply For Driving Licence option
After getting the learning license number, you will have to apply for a driving license. For this, you have to open the official website of Sarathi Parivahan sarathi.parivahan.gov.in . After that, you have to select the state. Now a new page will open in which you have to select the option of ” Apply For Driving Licence “.
Step 14: Enter the Learner’s Licence Number
After selecting the option, you have to enter your learning license number and date of birth. After entering the details, click on the OK button.
Step 15: Fill the driving license application form
Now the driving license form will open on the screen. Enter all the information asked in the form. After that pay the prescribed application fee and click on the submit button. After this you will have to go to the Regional Transport Office. There your driving test will be taken and documents will be checked. After this you will be provided with a driving license within a few days.
How to Check Gujarat Driving Licence Status
- To check Gujarat Driving License Status, first open the official website of Sarathi Transport Service sarathi.parivahan.gov.in.
- After the website opens, you will find the option of “Application Status” on the home page, click on it.
- As soon as you click on the option a new page will open.
- In this page, you have to enter your application number and click on the submit button.
- After this the Gujarat Driving License Status will open on the screen.
How to Apply for Driving Licence Gujarat Offline
Apart from applying online, you can also apply for driving license offline. Follow the procedure given below to apply offline for a new driving license in Gujarat.
- First of all go to the Regional Transport Office and get Application Form 2. You can also download it from the official website of Sarathi.
- Fill the application form carefully and attach the required documents with the form.
- Now go to the Regional Transport Office of your area with the application form and original documents.
- Now submit the application form and documents and pay the fee to take the learning license test.
- Complete the Application for Permanent Licence to get your driving test slot.
- After this you have to appear for the practical examination within a month.
- After giving the exam, within a few days your permanent driving license will reach your given address.
