અમદાવાદમાં અમેરિકન કોન્સ્યુલેટ ખુલવાનો જે નિર્ણય લેવામાં આવ્યો છે જેનાથી ગુજરાતમાં વસતા લોકોને મોટો ફાયદો થશે. કારણ પરિવારના સભ્યોને મળવા માટે કે પ્રવાસ માટે અમેરિકા જવા ઈચ્છતા લોકોની મહત્વની કામગીરી અમદાવાદમાંથી જ પૂર્ણ થઈ જશે, આથી તેમણે મુંબઈ સુધી ધક્કો ખાવો પડશે નહીં. આ નિર્ણયને ટ્રાવેલ એસોસિએશને પણ આવકાર્યો છે.

નોંધનીય છે કે, અમદાવાદમાં કોન્સ્યુલેટ ખોલવાની માંગ 15 વર્ષ જૂની છે, મોટી સંખ્યામાં ગુજરાતના લોકો અમેરિકામાં વસતા હોવાથી અને તેમના સગા ગુજરાતમાં હોવાની સાથે અન્ય કારણોથી આ માંગ કરવામાં આવી રહી છે. ગુજરાતમાં રહેતા લોકો કે જેમને અમેરિકા જવું હોય તેમણે બે દિવસ ફરજિયાત મુંબઈ જવું પડે છે. આ બે દિવસ દરમિયાન એક દિવસ ફિંગરપ્રિન્ટ અને એક દિવસ ઈન્ટર્વ્યુની પ્રોસેસ થતી હોય છે.
Regarding this, Chairman of Travel Agents Federation of India Manish Sharma said that the opening of consulate in Gujarat will directly benefit Gujaratis. They will also get relief from the expenditure of Gujaratis including going there for two days.
આ અંગે ટ્રાવેલ એજન્ટ ફેડરેશન ઓફ ઇન્ડિયાના ચેરમેન મનીષ શર્માએ જણાવ્યું કે, ગુજરાતમાં કોન્સ્યુલેટ ખુલવાથી તેનો સીધો ફાયદો ગુજરાતીઓને થશે. તેમણે ગુજરાતીઓનો બે દિવસનો ત્યાં જવા સહિતનો જે ખર્ચ થતો હતો તેમાં પણ રાહત મળશે.

હવે જે નવો નિર્ણય લેવામાં આવ્યો છે તેના કારણે ગુજરાતમાં વસતા લોકોનો અમેરિકન કોન્સ્યુલેટ ખુલવાથી મુંબઈ સુધીની મુસાફરીનો સમય પણ બચી જશે. ગુજરાતથી મુંબઈ જવું પડતું હોવાથી લોકોને હોટલમાં રોકાવાનો તથા ત્યાં જવાનો ખર્ચ પણ થઈ જતો હતો આ સિવાય તેમણે વધુ સમય પણ કાઢવો પડતો હતો.

અમદાવાદમાં કોન્સ્યુલેટ ખુલ્યા પછી ગુજરાત માટે અલગથી કોટા પણ ફાળવવામાં આવી શકે છે. અહીં કોન્સ્યુલેટ ખુલવાથી વીઝાની સંખ્યામાં પણ વધારો થવાનું માનવામાં આવી રહ્યું છે. હાલ અમેરિકા જવા ઈચ્છતા ગુજરાતીઓએ બે દિવસની કોન્સ્યુલેટ પ્રક્રિયા માટે મુંબઈ જવું પડે છે. ગુજરાતમાંથી અંદાજે ચાર લાખ લોકો વીઝા માટે અપ્લાય કરે છે અને તેમને મુંબઈ જવું પડે છે. આ સાથે અમદાવાદથી અમેરિકાની ફ્લાઈટ માટે પણ માંગ કરાઈ રહી છે. જો સીધી ફ્લાઈટ મળે તો સિનિયર સિટીઝનને પણ રાહત મળશે.
