What is PVC Election Card?
- PVC Voter Identity Card is a new version of Voter Card. Initially, this card came in black and white color and had the size of a bank card. The old version of Voter ID had a unique serial number, a hologram sticker and a stamped signature of the issuing officer.
- The photograph of the voter could not be easily recognized due to the monochrome print. The Election Commission of India has offered the facility of getting an improved colored EPIC or Colored Voter ID to address this issue.
- The Election Commission will issue this version of voter card to the persons applying for correction of their previous voter identity card.
Who is eligible to apply for Colored Voter ID Card?
- Persons aged 18 years or above are eligible to apply for a PVC voter card.
- They can use this colored voter ID in general elections, provided their name is listed in the electoral roll. Recently, the government has allowed the use of e-version of voter card for upcoming elections in various Indian states.
- Unlike black and white printed cards, where letters and pictures were blurred, polymerizing vinyl chloride cards are precise and easy to read.
- However, to convert their old voter ID card to PVC voter ID card, individuals have to apply first.
Apply online to get Colored Plastic Election Card
Individuals need to follow the below steps to apply online for New Colored Voter ID Card.
- Step 1 : Go to the official portal of Election Commission of India and select “Download e-EPIC” option on the homepage.
- Step 2 : Enter the relevant e-EPIC number and one-time password received on your registered mobile number
- Step 3 : Complete this process by clicking on “Download Election Card Online”.
Alternatively, individuals can download their digital election card from the National Voter Service Portal by following the steps mentioned.
- Step 1: Register or sign in to your account on the NVSP website .
- Step 2 : Next, enter the form reference number or EPIC number
- Step 3 : Complete this process by entering the OTP sent to your registered number and click on “Download e-EPIC”.
